We built the business around a habit that costs us door sales: we quote the repair first. You get the repair number before you get a replacement number, so you can compare two real options instead of being handed one.

The Three Things That Actually Justify Replacement

• The body is compromised. Rust through the bottom seam, or a panel bent past straightening.
• The model is discontinued. No matching section is made, so a damaged panel cannot be replaced.
• The design is unsafe. One-piece tilt-up doors, extension springs with no containment cable, openers predating 1993 with no photo eyes.

If a door fails none of those, it gets repaired. A broken spring, a frayed cable, a set of dead rollers, a stripped opener gear: those are consumables on a door that is otherwise fine.

What Long Beach Does to Doors

Salt off the water gets into the bottom seam of a steel door and works outward from inside the metal. The section nearest the ground fails years ahead of the rest. It looks like a dead door and usually is not, because if the model is current that is a section swap for a fraction of a replacement.

The same air corrodes lift cables from the inside of the strand, where nobody can see it. We check the cables here regardless of what the call was about.
